Art & Culture Trust of Sikkim is an initiative, The Chumbi Residency has taken towards preservation of Ethnic Sikkimese Art and Culture. It was established in the year 2000 with the following objectives: |

To preserve and protect all forms of Art, Culture, and
Heritage of Sikkim. |

The Trust has so far been able to achieve its objectives with generous help from the people of Sikkim and grants received from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. ACT Sikkim has so far produced a film on the almost dead art of nettle cloth weaving by the indigenous Lepcha tribe of Sikkim titled Saving a Craft a Heritage. Recreation of the Khani Lakhang at the Pemayangtse Monastery, which collapsed, some 50 years ago, by grant received from the Government of India. A lost documentary film on Sikkim made by the legendary Satyajit Ray, is now being restored with the support of The Academy of Motion Pictures, Art and Science, California and the Ray Society. The Trust has also supported the Kewzing Tourism Development Foundation in procurement of Sikkimese musical instruments for propagation of traditional music. The trust is also supporting two CBO's in conducting local language classes and dance classes. Currently the Trust has the project of documenting and cataloguing old photos and manuscripts generously donated to the trust by HRH The Chogyal of Sikkim. |
